PASI LYYTIKÄINEN "THE COMPOSITION DIARY OF THE CORONA SPRING"

In the spring of 2020, during an extraordinary time, composer Pasi Lyytikäinen picked up his pen and created a series of works titled Composition Diary of the Corona Spring. This collection of 34 miniatures (approx. 54 minutes in duration) is like a musical diary, reflecting the moods of isolation and finding solace in music. The pieces are written for all musicians – they can be performed with any instrument or ensemble and are adaptable to different pitches.

The series immediately found its audience: it was played in homes, during remote lessons at music schools, and in concerts by professional musicians both in Finland and abroad. Composition Diary of the Corona Spring is a story of community through music – of how music carries and connects us across borders and through time.

Welcome to hear the composer’s own perspective and to witness how these miniatures come to life in this very concert. The work is performed by Trio Luck, formed by musicians from the Kuopio Symphony Orchestra: Juhana Ritakorpi (cello), Tanja Jurevainen (violin) and Anfisa Troitskaia (viola).

Pasi Lyytikäinen who just recently earned his doctorate in composition will celebrate his 50th anniversary in Kuopio on October 4, and the Kuopio Chamber Music Society is honoured to be part of his anniversary concert tour.
