Appearing as soloist on the stage is pianist Laura Mikkola, who will perform two piano concertos: Lithuanian Žibuoklė Martinaitytė’s Chiaroscuro Trilogy and Camille Saint-Saëns’s fantasy Africa. Under the baton of Anna-Maria Helsing, the programme also includes Tectonic by Bulgarian Dobrinka Tabakova and the melancholy Symphony No. 4 by Einar Englund.

The Kuopio Symphony Orchestra consists of 44 musicians. The KSO musicians represent well over 10 different nationalities and therefore the orchestra’s working language is English. The Chief Conductor of the KSO is Jaakko Kuusisto. Atso Almila acts as the Second Conductor. In 2010 professor and maestro Jorma Panula was appointed as the orchestra’s Honorary Conductor.
The Kuopio Symphony Orchestra wants to introduce various audience groups to the world of music by organizing diverse concerts and special events. The main point is to give artistic experiences, to increase public awareness and knowledge of orchestral music and other forms of art music and also to develop people’s cultural competence.
Enjoy our concerts in YouTube. The orchestra's YouTube Channel introduces concerts by the KSO chamber music ensembles and individual musicians as well as the whole Kuopio Symphohy Orchestra. The concerts have been either recorded or livestreamed from Restaurant Maxim in Kuopio or at the orchestra’s home, ie. at the Kuopio Music Centre.
