A wild autumn storm rages in the Brasswood Forest, and there’s no sign of winter. The Mimmit encounter two travelers: Puhuri and his best friend, Loikkakoipi the Hare.
Puhuri carries a magical horn crafted from the permafrost of northern mires and the hardest steel ice. With it, he’s meant to awaken his father, the Frost, to bring winter. But the horn is badly melted, and it emits strange, sputtering sounds. The Mimmit decide to help Puhuri and Loikkakoipi—and together, they set off toward the North!
Thus begins an adventure full of speed, suspense, and laughter. Someone is trying to stop winter from arriving, and Puhuri is haunted by a deep secret. In the musical fairy tale “Puhuri, Son of Frost,” the question unfolds: Can winter still be saved?
This enchanting story is rooted in Finnish folklore and ancient beliefs about winter. Its central theme is climate change. Along the way, Mimmit, Puhuri, and Loikkakoipi meet a giant, encounter various animals, and witness firsthand that nature is in trouble—just as Old Yard Tree warned.
Duration 1 hour 40 minutes, including intermission.
