What did “Heinillä härkien kaukalon” (original French folk song ”Entre le bœuf et l’âne gris”) sound like in 17th century France? What about the christmas hymn “Enkeli taivaan” (original German song Vom Himmel hoch) composed by Martti Luther when played with ukulele, popular modern day instrument, and recorder, also popular but in the baroque period in Europe? The Most Beautiful Baroque Christmas Songs concert is part of the Baroque Kuopio Festival 2020. The programme includes beloved christmas songs from the baroque era – played in original baroque style for once – as well as music, for example, from christmas works by Händel and Charpentier.

Duration of the concert is approximately 1 hour, no interval.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines concerning safety distances, the concert can seat max. 300 persons.

Produced by the Kuopio Symphony Orchestra and Baroque Kuopio
Tickets: 10 € / 4 € children and students
