The ensemble Nativitas Borealis invites you to enjoy Italian-style Baroque music. The concert will feature works by composers L. Leo, J. Rosenmüller, A. Vivaldi, and U. W. van Wassenaer. Music brings the warmth and light of the Italian sun to autumn and winter, encourages looking inward on the eve of All Saints’ Day, and finding harmony – and perhaps, who knows, even a peaceful happiness.
You will also hear a rare instrument, the violoncello da spalla. Its soft and delicate sound will resonate in your heart. In the 18th and 19th centuries, the violoncello da spalla fell into obscurity, and it is only in the last twenty years that musicians have gradually returned to this noble instrument.
Tonight, the ensemble features musicians from the Kuopio Symphony Orchestra: Lev Berkovskiy, Yolotzin Cruz Cedillo, Maria Ikonen, Evgeny Pravilov, Juhana Ritakorpi, Oili Tuhkanen, as well as the organist of Kuopio Cathedral, Vesa-Pekka Kajava.
The artistic director of the concert is Lev Berkovskiy.
Duration approx. 1 hour.
Produced by the Kuopio cathedral parish
