The Kuopio Symphony Orchestra’s popular entertainment concert series, which introduces the artists behind the music, continues in the company of Marzi Nyman.

Marzi Nyman is a true multitalent of Finnish music – a virtuosic guitarist, composer and performer whose energetic playing and boundless creativity make every concert an experience. His music moves effortlessly from pop to jazz, from rock to classical, always with surprise, warmth, and an open heart. Marzi is a prime example of a musician who refuses to bow to genre boundaries, bringing fresh vitality to Finnish rhythm music. The concert showcases the many sides of Marzi’s musicianship: as guitarist, conductor, composer, and arranger.

The evening’s guest soloist, top‑tier Finnish trumpeter Jukka Eskola, describes Marzi’s trumpet concerto as follows: “Marzi Nyman’s trumpet concerto is, from a trumpeter’s perspective, an exceptionally fascinating work. It contains rhythmic energy and calmer, lingering moments, clear and beautiful colours, virtuosic runs, and improvisatory passages. Exactly the elements that are characteristic of the trumpet: fiery brilliance and bright power, but also a delicate and soft sound world.”

Duration approx. 1 hour 45 minutes, including intermission.
