Virtuoso Violin Pieces at KSO concert on 30th of September

On Thursday 30th of September at 7 pm we will enjoy key works and virtuoso pieces of violin repertoire at the Kuopio Music Centre Concert Hall. The soloist will be French violinist David Grimal, who will also lead the orchestra. The program includes Maurice Ravel’s Tzigane, Ernest Chausson’s Poème and George Enescu’s Caprice Roumain.
The KSO concert on 30th of September will be led by David Grimal, who enjoys an international reputation for the originality of his musical career. In addition to his career as a soloist he works for example as the artistic director of Les Dissonances Orchestra, which performs without a conductor.
The concert begins with Maurice Ravel’s Tzigane, which includes traditional modes and rhythms and belongs to brilliant virtuoso pieces in the violin literature. Also the French composer Ernest Chausson’s poetic Poème is one of the key works for violinists.
The concert ends with the Romanian composer George Enescu’s Caprice Roumain, which was completed and orchestrated from the sketches. The work reflects Enescu’s deep relations to folk music.
The duration of the concert is 1 hour 20 minutes with an intermission.
