Doctor of Music Anu Lampela appointed as new director of Kuopio Music Centre and Kuopio Symphony Orchestra

Doctor of Music Anu Lampela has been appointed as the new Director of the Kuopio Music Centre and the Kuopio Symphony Orchestra. She has previously acted as the Director of the Open Campus at the University of the Arts Helsinki and held various positions at the Sibelius Academy. The new director will begin her new duties in Kuopio in early 2026.

The recruitment process for the new director of the Kuopio Music Centre and the Kuopio Symphony Orchestra opened on August 22nd and once. The application period was extended until October 31st. The interview panel unanimously recommended appointing Doctor of Music Anu Lampela to the position.

She has contributed to the development of musician education, particularly at the university level, and researched topics such as the interaction between artists and audiences. She has also performed as a pianist. Lampela will start her duties in early 2026.
