Whole tapestry of life will be played by KSO and Oulu Sinfonia on May 16th

The Kuopio Symphony Orchestra’s Spring 2025 Season Concert Series will come to a grand end on Friday 16th of May at 6 pm with the sound of a great ensemble, as the KSO joins forces with the Oulu Sinfonia on the Kuopio Music Centre Concert Hall stage. In The Tapestry of Life concert, the songs from Gustav Mahler’s Des Knaben Wunderhorn series, which describes the spectrum of life, will be interpreted by the baritone Johannes Held. The concert will end with Richard Strauss’ symphonic poem Symphonia Domestica conducted by the KSO Chief Conductor, Eugene Tzigane. The concert will be livestreamed on the KSO’s YouTube channel.

On Friday 16th of May Kuopio Symphony Orchestra will perform together with the Oulu Sinfonia. The magnificent music will be conducted by the Chief Conductor of the KSO, Eugene Tzigane.

Before his great symphonies, Gustav Mahler immersed himself wholeheartedly in German folk poetry. From love and death to angels and unfortunate events, the songs from Des Knaben Wunderhorn encompass the entire spectrum of life.

At the height of his popularity, Richard Strauss embraced the role of a great man by creating tone poems drawn from the experiences of his life. Following heroic depictions of conquest, he composed Symphonia Domestica, a family portrait reflecting serene domestic life. Before Strauss, no one knew how resplendently everyday conversations could resonate when performed by a symphony orchestra.

Before the concert, at 5:30 pm at the Kuopio Music Centre Hall of Light, a Pre-Talk event open to everyone is organized.

The concert in Kuopio will be livestreamed to the KSO YouTube channel and is available for one month.

The concert will also take place at the Madetoja Concert Hall in Oulu on Thu May 15.

Tickets: 33 € / 27 € senior citizens and groups min. 20 persons / 11 € children under the age of 16 and students
4 € concert day discount ticket for students and young people under the age of 20 (available for purchase on the concert day at the Kuopio Music Centre Ticket Office)

Prices include the Kuopio Music Centre service fee 2 € / ticket. The service fees vary depending on the place of purchase.
