Kuopio Symphony Orchestra’s and Kuopio Music Centre’s new director Jari Eskola started his work

Jari Eskola was designated as the new Director of the Kuopio Music Centre and the Kuopio Symphony Orchestra in May 2023. Eskola started his new work in Kuopio on the 1st of August.

His previous employments include the Head of Publishing at Fennica Gehrman Oy, the Executive Director of the Society of Finnish Composers and the Manager of Services and Development at Finnish Music Information Centre Fimic, among others.

The recruiting process of the Director of the Kuopio Music Centre and the Kuopio Symphony Orchestra started in March 2023 and from 18 applications 5 applicants were chosen for the interviews. The interviewing board presented Jari Eskola as the new Director unanimously.

Jari Eskola has been working as the Head of Publishing of the Finnish Music Publishing Company Fennica Gehrman Oy, as the Executive Director of The Society of Finnish Composers and as the Manager of Services and Development at Finnish Music Information Centre Fimic. In addition, he has worked as the Principal Music Librarian of the Stockholm Concert Hall and the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and as the Office Manager of the EMS Educational Music Services Europe. Eskola has had many positions of resposibility in the Finnish music field.

Eskola returned to his former hometown Kuopio to start his new work on the 1st of August. The autumn season 2023 is the first season planned by the Kuopio Symphony Orchestra’s Chief Conductor Eugene Tzigane.
