Jukka Perko, saxophone and lead
Welcome to the city’s most swinging May Day show! Saxophonist Jukka Perko brings jazz and big band classics such as Duke Ellington’s Caravan, Glenn Miller’s In the Mood and Count Basie/Sinatra’s Fly Me To The Moon as lively arrangements for the Kuopio Symphony Orchestra. The Jokers of the concert are some pieces by Grieg and Tchaikovsky arranged in the spirit of rhythm music. Perko himself states: “The concert highlights the orchestra’s amazing ability to stretch from familiar circles into new areas.” Behind these amazing symphonic arrangements are Arttu Takalo, Sampo Kasurinen, Ville Vannemaa and Artturi Rönkä. So there’s going to be swinging fun and joy for all – come with the whole family, friends or colleagues to celebrate.
