Call for singers: new project choir performs Beethoven’s Ninth

KSO plays the symphony in honor of its 200th Anniversary in 2024

The Kuopio Symphony Orchestra and its Chief Conductor, Eugene Tzigane, are assembling a special Project Choir to perform Ludwig van Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the orchestra at the Kuopio Music Centre on Thursday, December 12th, 2024. The year 2024 marks the 200th Anniversary of the premiere of the Ninth in Vienna back in 1824. The deadline for applications has been postponed to 3rd of April. There will be an audition on the 3rd of April at 6 pm. The detailed instructions are on the KSO website.

The KSO conducted by its Chief Conductor will perform Ludwig van Beethoven’s 9th Symphony on Thursday 12th of December 2024 and now calls for singers to the Project Choir singing in the symphony’s 4th movement An die Freude. Approximately 100 singers will be chosen via audition videos made and uploaded to a cloud service by the applicants. Priority will be given to singers with experience in choral singing, who have an education in singing, and or professional singers willing to volunteer their time. The choir will start rehearsing in May with the Chorus Master Jaana Turunen.

The deadline for applications is the 3rd of April. The applicants will fill in an application form and send an audition video. The detailed instructions are on the KSO website.

The singers will be chosen by the choral director and the conductor. The applicants will be informed on Monday 8th of April via email.
