A dazzling tango experience comes to Kuopio! The enchanting Helena Juntunen embraces the audience with her voice – sometimes tender, sometimes fiery and passionate – while weaving musical stories through her narration.
Where was tango born, and where is it now?
The concert journeys from the Latin tango of 19th-century Buenos Aires bars to the tango nuevo created by Astor Piazzolla in the 1950s. The story also explores the Finnish tango tradition from the early 20th century – deeply rooted in themes of love, sorrow, and nature – and introduces the freshest sounds of contemporary tango.
What happens when Toivo Kärki meets Astor Piazzolla? How does David Bowie’s Life on Mars lend itself to a tango interpretation? Was Valse triste actually a tango after all? Find out in this spectacular May Day celebration!
