Kuopio Symphony Orchestra was brought under municipal ownership in 1976. Nowadays it is an administrative part of the Centre of Cultural Affairs in the City of Kuopio. The Centre of Cultural Affairs in the City of Kuopio also includes Kuopio City Theatre, Kuopio City Library, the Kuopio Museum of Cultural History and Kuopio Art Museum. Kuopio Symphony Orchestra and Kuopio Music Centre form one administrative unit working under the same roof at the Kuopio Music Centre. The number of personnel of this twofold organisation is 65 of which the number of musicians is 46. The director of the Kuopio Music Centre and also the intendant of the Kuopio Symphony Orchestra is Mr. Michael Claussen.
